BLS offers one-way car rental from Ukraine to Warsaw: collect a vehicle at a Ukrainian branch, drive to Poland and return it to our Warsaw branch. You do not need to drive the rental car back to its Ukrainian pickup location. Once the agreed handover is complete, you can stay in Poland or continue your journey by another form of transport.
Collection is available through BLS branches in different Ukrainian cities. Tell us where you want to start, your dates, passengers and luggage requirements, and specify Warsaw as the final return point when requesting a quote. How a Ukraine-to-Poland one-way rental works
One-way rental means the vehicle's collection and final return locations are different. On this international route, you collect in Ukraine and return to BLS in Warsaw, Poland. You drive the car yourself during the agreed hire period; this is a self-drive rental, not a chauffeur transfer.
State both ends of the journey in your request. Permission to take a rental vehicle across a border does not, by itself, change its contracted return location. An international one-way booking includes the Warsaw return arrangement from the outset.
- Choose your Ukrainian pickup city. Provide dates, vehicle preferences, passenger numbers and luggage needs.
- Request the international one-way service. Specify return to the BLS Warsaw branch.
- Review the quotation. Confirm the complete cost, documents, protection, receiving address and handover time.
- Collect the car in Ukraine. Check its condition, equipment and supplied documents before leaving.
- Return it to BLS in Warsaw. Keep the acceptance confirmation and final settlement details.
Where can you collect the car in Ukraine?
Start from a branch that suits your location and luggage arrangements. You do not have to travel to the border by public transport and find a different car on the Polish side: a one-way vehicle can be with you from the Ukrainian pickup point. The available vehicle category for your dates is confirmed at booking.
Kyiv to Warsaw
If you are based in the capital or arriving there before departure, browse vehicles at BLS's Kyiv location and request a Warsaw return. This lets you start the international journey in Kyiv without arranging a separate trip to western Ukraine. Allow for breaks and driver rest on the longer journey.
Lviv to Warsaw
For a departure from western Ukraine, arrange car collection in Lviv. If you arrive by train, leave time to reach the branch and complete the handover. Choose a border crossing using current conditions as well as distance; the closest crossing on a map is not necessarily the quickest on the day.
Dnipro to Warsaw
You can choose a vehicle from the BLS Dnipro branch and finish the hire in Poland. Your luggage stays in the same vehicle throughout the journey. Include the Ukrainian road section, possible overnight rest and the onward drive to Warsaw when choosing your rental dates.
Odesa to Warsaw
For a journey starting in the south, explore rental options at our Odesa branch. Match the boot space to your actual luggage and allow enough time for a comfortable driving schedule. If two people will share the driving, arrange approval for the additional driver before departure.
Ivano-Frankivsk to Warsaw
After a stay in the Carpathian region, you can collect a BLS car in Ivano-Frankivsk and continue to Poland. Include any earlier local journeys in the total hire period and mileage. For a different starting city, tell the team your location so an available arrangement can be checked for your request.
When is an international one-way rental useful?
The main benefit is removing a return drive you would otherwise make only to hand back the car. After the Warsaw handover, the rental vehicle no longer determines where you must travel next.
- Relocation or an extended stay. You need a vehicle for travelling with your belongings, but not for the whole time you will spend in Poland.
- A family journey. Luggage and children's essentials travel in one car, with stops planned around the family's needs.
- An onward flight or train. Finish the driving portion at the branch, then continue by another mode of transport.
- A business trip with a different return plan. Drive to Poland but return another way or from another location.
If you already intend to drive back to the same Ukrainian city, compare the complete quotes for both arrangements. Avoiding an unnecessary return journey is a practical benefit, not a promise that one-way hire will always be the cheapest option.
Documents for driving a rental car from Ukraine to Poland
Separate your preparation into personal travel documents, vehicle documents and the rental agreement. Confirm the required set with BLS before the collection date so any missing information can be resolved before departure.
- People: documents required for international travel, the driver's valid licence for the vehicle category and any additional documents required by individual circumstances.
- Vehicle: registration documents and the properly documented basis for using the car and taking it abroad.
- Rental: approved drivers, dates, permitted territory and the agreed Warsaw branch return.
- Insurance: valid documents for the international route and the relevant incident contacts.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs service centre's guidance on taking vehicles abroad describes registration requirements and arrangements for someone using a vehicle they do not own. Do not replace the rental preparation process with a generic authorisation template: confirm the documents and procedure for the actual vehicle with BLS.
Each traveller's eligibility to cross the border is separate from renting a car. The agreement does not replace personal eligibility or travel documents. If your circumstances are unclear, use the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine's official enquiry procedure. Admission and exit decisions belong to the relevant authorities, not the rental company.
International one-way pricing and insurance
To obtain a quote, provide the starting city, dates, vehicle category and all countries on the route. Ask for the hire charge, any international return or logistics charge, selected extras and security amount to be identified separately. Check the included distance, fuel or battery return requirement and charges for changing the hire period.
Confirm where the protection applies and how to report an accident or breakdown. A security deposit is not the same as an insurance excess. An international third-party liability certificate also does not replace protection for damage to the hired vehicle itself.
According to MTSBU's guidance on electronic Green Card contracts, a contract cannot start earlier than the day after it is concluded. Check the start date, expiry and vehicle details on the agreed certificate before travelling. Do not leave confirmation of active cover until you arrive at the border.
Planning arrival and the Warsaw return
Build time into the journey for breaks, rest and border processing. A navigation estimate is not a guaranteed arrival time. If you have an onward flight or train, allow for the vehicle inspection at the branch and a separate journey to the terminal or station.
If you are delayed, contact BLS with a revised arrival estimate before the agreed return time. Do not substitute another parking location or hand the keys to an unrelated person: the return must follow the agreed procedure.
The receiving location for this service is BLS's Warsaw operation in Poland. Your confirmation provides the exact address, time and handover instructions. Airport, hotel or other Polish-city returns are not automatically included in this arrangement.
Final handover checklist
- Arrive at the agreed location with the keys, documents and supplied equipment.
- Check the fuel or battery level against the agreed requirement.
- Photograph the car's condition, odometer and fuel or charge reading.
- Hand the vehicle over to the BLS representative and keep the acceptance confirmation.
- Confirm final charges and the deposit refund or release process.
If special registration documents were arranged for the international journey, ask BLS before departure how the related formalities will be completed after the Warsaw handover. A one-way rental does not remove documentation procedures.

With international one-way hire, the vehicle accompanies you from the Ukrainian pickup city to Warsaw. With a local Polish rental, you first travel to Poland independently and then collect a car.
