Ternopil is one of the few cities in western Ukraine that we have not yet written about in our traditional travel reviews. So now his time has come! Moreover, we are sure that you will fall in love with this city! After all, this is one of the most picturesque regional centers of Ukraine.
You can get from Kyiv to Ternopil in about 6:00. It is best to go to such a weekend in a proven car, so we recommend renting new and technically perfect cars at the best price. Ask managers about the "weekend" tariff - with it you will receive almost a full 3 days at a price of 2.
Ternopil "chip", without a doubt, is a huge picturesque pond right in the middle of the city. He is the same age as Ternopil, however, during World War II, he was badly damaged, so he had to be restored in the 50s. But now becoming rightfully considered a tourist highlight of the city. And from the embankment of the pond, we advise you to take a bridge to the Island of lovers - your Insta account will never forgive you for not having a photo from here.
Where there is a pond - there must certainly be a promenade. Ternopil, by the way, for some reason is called "Gypsy." There are many colorful and inexpensive establishments where you can drink coffee while admiring the beauty of the lake. In addition, it is not recommended to ignore the aeration fountain. Its length is 300 meters and it is considered one of the longest in Ukraine. The "arrows" of the fountain are highlighted in different colors, which makes the embankment even more picturesque.
Ternopil has its own castle, founded back in 1540 by the founder of the city, the great crown hetman Jan-Amor Tarnovsky at the site of the ancient Russian settlement Sopilche. Now the castle, rebuilt in the XIX century, is more like a palace, but this is not a reason to ignore it.
Among the churches, the Vozdvizhenskaya (Nadstavnaya) church deserves the most attention - and not only because it is the most ancient religious building in Ternopil. Like the castle, this church was built by the founder of the city, the crown hetman J. Tarnowski. Noteworthy is the Ternopil Cathedral.
Another architectural attraction of Ternopil is the Venetian or Italian courtyard. This is one of the most picturesque sights of the city. Its name is a courtyard located on the street. Chernivtsi, 66, received thanks to the columns, facades, and arches, which give it a resemblance to the architectural components of Italian houses.
